Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

An alternative to traditional “open” spine surgery is a minimally invasive laser procedure. Here, the surgeon makes a smaller incision and uses a tool to tunnel to the site of the pain. Because the muscles aren’t pulled away, damage to the surrounding area is minimal and the recovery time is often shorter. Laser spine surgery can help relieve pain associated with a variety of spinal conditions through innovative, minimally invasive techniques. Unlike traditional spine surgery procedures, laser spine surgery uses an endoscopic approach, which requires only a small incision (typically 1-inch or less) and use of a microscope to gain access to the affected areas of the spine and perform the necessary treatment.

Compared to traditional “open back” surgery, which requires large incisions and surrounding muscles and tissues to be moved away from the spine to access the affected areas, laser spine surgery has been shown to provide much faster recovery times, fewer complications, and longer lasting results.

Is Laser Spine Surgery Right For Me?

Laser spine surgery is recommended for patients with chronic or worsening pain who have not found relief with more conservative forms of treatments. These technique can be used to help relieve chronic pain from many spine conditions including sciatica, spinal stenosis, facet joint disease, herniated discs, bone spurs and pinched nerves. Laser spine surgeries, like microdiscectomy or minimally invasive laminectomy, offer a variety of benefits, such as much smaller incisions, minimal damage to surrounding tissues, faster recovery times and less risk of postoperative complications.

Am I a Candidate for Laser Spine Surgery?

Surgical procedures should be considered only after conservative treatment methods, such as physical therapy, medications, or spinal injections have failed to provide relief. Chronic pain sufferers who have previously undergone treatment, yet continue to suffer from painful symptoms related to their condition or treatments, may find better results with minimally invasive procedures using laser spine surgery techniques; we will evaluate all of your options to determine which treatment option is best for your unique condition.
